Amol Kale backed Telecomversity – offers free training for creating Village Level Entrepreneurs

Amol Kale backed Telecomversity will offer free training to create Village Level Entrepreneurs

India, October 13: Telecom has today become a pervasive technology cutting across all Industrial verticals, thus having a far larger impact on the economy and life of the consumer. The Indian Telecom success story would continue with 5G networks, IOT and AI, besides focusing on the under-penetrated rural markets through Bharatnet. The nationwide reach of fiber-based connectivity will not only create new job opportunities; but will dramatically increase the need to keep fiber networks maintained. For higher network uptime, fiber splicing technicians will be required at the village level to address the demand and supply gap, and it is necessary to train and certify rural youths to make them employable within the vicinity of their villages.

Amol Kale’s Telecomversity program would be running practical hands-on training across its rural centers as well as by online mode to run its village-level – “Telecom Technician” courses without any charges to rural youth. One of the skill sets that will be most sought after is the fiber cable splicer; additionally, roles like network troubleshooters will also be in demand. Adequate efforts to ensure the placement of trained candidates suitably in the industry would be made by involving Telco’s in the program.

“The rural youths of our villages will stop migrating to cities for employment as we would be making them employable for different skill sets required in fiber route management such as Installation of new FTTH connections from Gram Panchayat, Fiber Route patrolling, Fiber Cable Splicing, GPON & Router troubleshooting and preventive maintenance work. Not only for Bharatnet fiber, but we will also ensure that all first-level maintenance work of all Telco’s fiber is done by involving local youths,” said Amol Kale.

BharatNet is the world’s largest rural broadband connectivity program. It will provide a strong countrywide fiber backbone covering all towns and cities to connect 2.5 lakh gram panchayats in India. According to Amol, The Bharatnet initiative is a key catalyst towards the upliftment of rural India as the availability of fiber-based gigabit bandwidth would encourage a startup ecosystem in smaller towns as these smaller towns can offer low manpower cost, cheaper real estate, and more affordable amenities.

Amol Kale, who was born in Nagpur to Shri Kishor Kale and the late Smt Surekha Kale, both retired as teachers, is an electrical engineer by profession and a first-generation entrepreneur, venture capitalist, educationist and philanthropist. He is chairman of Adhar Stambha Charitable Trust, a Board member of Sanjeevan Public School Panchgani, LAC President of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam and is also the current Vice President of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA).

According to Amol, “Due to limited opportunities for enhancing technical skills, rural youth migrate towards urban centers for acquiring vocational education that will fetch a secured job.” We are working towards creating conditions that allow rural youths to live in peace and prosperity in their homelands by skilling them for employment and entrepreneurship.

About Telecomversity

Telecomversity, a brainchild of Amol Kale, is a training platform that incubates ideas around network technologies. With the implementation of Bharatnet and opportunities in 5G rollout, the extensive offsite and online training programs have ensured the placement of local trained candidates within their localities, thereby ensuring enough manpower for telecom infrastructure projects as well as creating a livelihood for local unemployed youths. Our out-of-the-box approach and technology infusion has made Telecomversity lay down benchmark in the skilling ecosystem suitable for new projects like Bharatnet and network expansion projects.
